School Council Fundraiser - The Togher Trials!

There was huge excitement in the hall today when members of the School Council and Mr Togher announced our 2018 fundraising event - The Togher Trials! Last year's Obstacle Challenge raised £1,200 which helped purchase exercise equipment for the KS2 playground. This year we are aiming to raise even more funds for our great school.

We are challenging everyone to take part in 5 'trials' beginning on 21 May 2018. Activities on Monday to Thursday will take place during the 15 minutes of fitness sessions and the Friday will be a fabulous festival of football - Belmont's very own World Cup! There will be something for everyone to enjoy over the week and we are hoping that parents/carers/family and friends will sponsor their children to raise as much money as we can.

The timetable for the week is as follows:

Monday - how far can you run in 15 minutes?

Tuesday - the Hoopskipathon - skip or hula hoop for 15 minutes!

Wednesday - the Water Challenge - who can transport the most water using a cup with a hole in it?

Thursday - it's Music Mania - dance for 15 minutes!

Friday - Football Festival!

We are linking the football festival to the World Cup taking place later this year. Each class will be split into 4 teams with each team representing a country. These 4 teams will play each other to find a winning country for each class. Although our youngest children will not be playing matches they will take part in fun football skills activities to decide upon the winning team for their class.

There were huge cheers when we drew out the names of the countries for each class in the assembly this morning! We hope that over the next few weeks everyone will be able to find out more about the country they will be representing and create flags and banners to make the day a real celebration. Everyone can come dressed as their favourite sports person or in their PE Kit on the Friday (making sure they wear suitable footwear). If a child does not want to be sponsored but would like to wear sports kit on that day, it would be appreciated if they could make a small donation.

We are really looking forward to our big event and we hope with your kind support to raise as much as we can for everyone in our school.
