The academic year of 2018-2019 has been our first full academic year as a group and we would like to thank you all for supporting us! We would also like to say a huge thank you to our new volunteers, who have come forward to support our events, no matter what you may have done.
This year we started our events with a Halloween Disco, where we saw some amazing costumes and dance moves by the teachers and children alike. The Key Stage 1 disco was fun-packed with spooky games and great tunes. The Key Stage 2 disco was also a great success.
This year’s Christmas Fayre was once again another amazing success. There were new games to be played and fabulous prizes to be won throughout the afternoon. This year also saw greater support from the community with new stalls attending and new visitors too.
Also, there was good participation in the FOBS Personalised Christmas Card design scheme. Children, get your thinking caps on for your designs for Christmas 2019 when you will return to school in September.
Spring Time ... Craft Time!
This year, we have tried something different as we hosted our first Spring Festival. This was an opportunity for everyone (children, parents and carers) to be creative and enjoy Spring-themed craft workshops, raffle and refreshments. Crafts included suncatchers, rabbit faces, plant paintings and many other items using tissue paper, feathers, pom-poms, card, felt tips, crayons and paint.
The Spring Festival also saw the unveiling of the custom-designed Story-Telling Chair. We must admit that it looks amazing and the children already enjoy visiting the area. FOBS have also purchased giant picnic blankets to be used in the Woodland Area and around school, making learning more comfortable for the children.
Summer Fayre 2019
The weather was not on our side this year and after re-planning the day’s events three times in one week, we think it wasn’t too bad. Unfortunately, we did have to cancel the Army Assault Course, Giant Inflatable Slide, Basketball Game and Ice Cream Van due to the weather and Health & Safety issues, but we will try again next year.
The odd rain shower however didn’t stop the Belmont BBQ Team ... Mr Davidson, Mr Allsop and Mrs Nix cooked up some fabulous food near the junior entrance.
We did manage to fit in most of the activities indoors, even if some of them were downsized. The children enjoyed trying their luck with the games and winning some fabulous prizes and the Great Belmont Bake Off saw some happy winners, too.
We were delighted that so many of you came along and supported us on the day!
A huge WELL DONE to all of the children for their amazing efforts and team spirit! And, also, WELL DONE to the parents who participated in the Adults Race during the KS1 Sport Day!
The FOBS Team hope that everyone enjoyed themselves, as well as the refreshments/snacks stall and the raffles.
Overall, with your support, the FOBS Team have raised over £2,700 this year to enhance facilities at the school. Our plan is to support the regeneration of the outdoor learning area. This will aid all year groups in many ways and provide an additional learning area to the everyday classroom.
We are currently making plans for events in the next academic year. If you would like to help us in any way, please contact us via the school website, (click HERE to go directly to the contact form). Any time that you can spare will be gratefully appreciated. Even an hour can make all the difference to help us set up, attend and/or clear away after an event.
