Our Young Ambassadors have been very busy this term. They have taken part in the inspire+ Legacy tour and led an assembly for the whole school introducing the School of Kindness Awards. These awards are through Inspire+ and the School of Kindness. At the end of the assembly, our ambassadors made a kindness pledge - ‘to continue to give our kindness tokens to celebrate acts of kindness’. As a school, we will also be introducing the Wall of Good Deeds, to celebrate the larger good deeds the children do throughout the school. We will then hopefully be able to nominate some of our pupils, classes, adults or even the whole school for a kindness award! The second part of the Legacy Tour was for us to go to Ropsley school to pass over our pledge to them as well, during their own Legacy Tour assembly.
Our Young Ambassadors have also been very busy organising and leading their own fitness club at lunchtimes. They have had the job of organising the different exercises the children have to complete, timing the circuit and creating a final challenge for each session. This has given 20+ children across KS2 the chance to be active.
Our term of competitions kicked off in the very first week with New Age Kurling. This event saw us take two teams to the competition for the first time. A new sport for many of the children to try, but that didn’t stop both teams being successful and our teams won GOLD! Following on from New Age Kurling, we took part in the Sportshall Athletics for the first time. This was a fantastic event, with 19 children taking part forming one team together. The support and encouragement they showed each other within each race and event was brilliant and overall we came a brilliant 4th!
Our events this term finished with the Swimarathon where this year we were very lucky and proud to be able to take 22 children! The team raised lots of money altogether and in total swam 330 lengths!
Inspire+ this term have led a Wake Up, Shake Up session for some children in the morning. This was a blast of physical activity first thing in the morning to help the children reset and settle into the day ready to learn. The coach then moved around the classes to see how the children were getting on with their work. Not only that, Inspire+ also led a boxercise session which we had lots of children attend, with lots of enjoyment and lots of new skills being learned. We also had the brilliant Sam Ruddock in for his ‘Get the Juice’ assembly, which as always, the children absolutely loved and were enthused by Sam!
Next term is already looking like a busy one, after winning the World Cup Penalty Shoot Out we took part in prior to Christmas with Premier Sports, we won some free PE sessions with them and these will be starting the first week back. We also have the netball league and festival coming up this term along with the hockey tournament that we have 2 teams entered in and we will finish the term with the tag rugby tournament. We will also be attending the biggest ever girls’ football session at Harrowby United Football Club, in partnership with the FA. The event is aimed at all girls of all abilities, with a variety of different activities from some fun football related games, a shot power test, and the chance to meet some of the Lincoln City Women’s team. This is a non-competitive festival event, with the hope of inspiring more girls in to football something we are very much looking forward to!
Thanks for your continued support,
Mr Togher
