This year, more than any other, we really wanted the children to be able to celebrate the Christmas season, having a great time together, with lots of fun and laughter. They were so excited to spot Santa in the school grounds and then speak to him via a Teams call at the beginning of the week! They also had great fun taking part in the Santa Dash, running and dancing round the playground to some great Christmas music.
Usually, the prevalent sound you can hear at the end of the Autumn term is the wonderful singing of the children in Key Stage 1 and EYFS as they practise their nativity play in the hall. With the bubbles not able to mix, Mr Allsopp and the Key Stage 1 team decided to make a film instead that could be shared with parents. The children in Elk Class took the starring roles as Mr Allsopp, making his directorial debut, filmed them in various locations in the school grounds. In turn, the children in Reindeer and Fallow Classes practised their singing in their classrooms and were then filmed separately in the hall wearing their Christmas outfits. The resulting film is fabulous and can be viewed on the Belmont Media pages of our website.
Another annual event at Belmont at this time of year is the Christingle service, when the whole school gathers in the round, in the hall, to sing carols. As we were unable to do this, the children in Barasingha were very proud to be able to make their own Christingles and sing quietly together.
The last day of course, meant it was party time! After eating and playing games in their classrooms, everyone was able to take part in a special Christmas quiz devised and hosted by Taruca Class via Zoom! The joint winners were Elk and Barasingha with a magnificent 29/30!
The Governors and staff at Belmont wish you a merry and safe Christmas and hope you have a happy New Year. We hope you are able to enjoy some wonderful times together over the Christmas period and look forward to seeing everyone again in January.
