PE News!

It’s been great to be able to get PE back up and running more fully across the whole school this term! The children have been absolutely fantastic, putting in lots of effort and showing lots of improvement and equally more important, they’ve really enjoyed their PE as well! The busyness of all things PE has been back this term as we’ve had lots going on!

First up, we had some Inspire+ Coaches in: Kane working with Year 3, learning all about cricket which they’ve thoroughly enjoyed and the Year 1's dancing the term away with Beth - with great enthusiasm! We also had another fantastic assembly with Inspire+ Ambassador, Jonathon Broom-Edwards and within this assembly he told us all about his TorchLite competition. The school winner will win a signed piece of Team GB clothing and the overall winner out of all of the Inspire+ schools will see their design as the logo on Jonathon’s mascot Torch’s T-shirt! Even more amazingly, it will become the logo for a charity Jonathon is starting!

Once a week throughout the term, we’ve had a group of Year 6's working with Inspire+ Ambassador Sophie Allen, for some mentoring, which they’ve both enjoyed and benefitted from. Year 6 also had the opportunity to take part in a Sir Captain Tom sporty 100 challenge, in memory of what he did on what would have been the week of his 101st birthday.

Finally this term, sports clubs have resumed only slightly differently as they are at lunchtimes with different classes on a variety of days, all playing different sports! Next term every pupil from KS1 and KS2 will be taking part in the School Games Virtual Tennis competition, giving them the opportunity to compete against other schools.

I am hopeful to reintroduce the intraschool competitions when it is safe to do so.  They give our children the chance to be competitive and show off the skills they’ve learnt in their PE lessons. I am also very much looking forward to this year's sports day, details for this will be shared nearer the time as guidance changes.

Finally I would like to finish with a reminder regarding PE kit; please ensure your child is wearing Belmont PE kit on their PE days (information on this was sent via ParentMail).

Thank you for your continued support!
