We were pleased to welcome Royal British Legion representative, Mrs O’Dell, back to Belmont this morning, when she and representatives from the FOBS, joined us for our annual Remembrance Service. Poems and readings were shared by members of Taruca Class and Mrs O’Dell spoke of the origins of the poppy we wear today. Her poem, ‘In Praise of Poppies’ was a poignant reminder of their significance.
Shortly before 11:00 am we gathered on the junior playground, in front of display of poppies created by the pupils to honour the 101 years since the end of the First World War. We stood in silence for one minute to remember those who have fallen, before the sounding of the Last Post.
