'Safer Stranger' - Belmont Mini Police

As children become more independent, it is important they know how to keep themselves safe when they are in public. We were pleased therefore, to welcome PCSO Rowena Everitt back to Belmont on Wednesday when she delivered a 'Safer Stranger' assembly to the children in year 5 and 6.

Whilst child abduction is relatively uncommon, it’s important that children can recognise the potential signs of danger and know what to do to protect themselves if a stranger approaches.

During the assembly, the children learnt how to keep safe in public and then discussed the difference between a stranger and a 'safer stranger' - someone who they could safely approach if they needed help.

After the assembly, the Belmont Mini Police made maps of safe places near to school which will be on put on display.

Our thanks once again to PCSO Rowena for a great, informative assembly.
