Sports Round-Up

We have had another great term of PE, even with the weather doing its best to stop us getting outside and playing sport!

We have been busy again, our Year 1’s have finished their multi sport PE lessons with Inspire+ coach Peter, they have really enjoyed it and learnt lots of new skills.

This term also saw the end of our first block of swimming lessons. This year we changed swimming venue and teachers to Sleaford Leisure Centre as well as changing to only Year 3 and 4 going swimming in the year for a longer block. This has been very successful and we have had a large number already complete their 25m and many completing their 10m and 5m badges, so a huge step towards learning to swim.

Our only sport outing this term was the football tournament. This gave us the opportunity to take two teams to the tournament for the first time, showing not only how popular our football club is but also sport on the whole. Our two teams played brilliantly and represented the school with pride. We will be continuing fixtures after Christmas, as we have entered into a school football league again so we will have even more games this year. We are also hopeful of a girls football club and a Year 3/4 football club. Next term is already building up to be a busy one with many more clubs taking place whilst some clubs will be continuing to run.

Our Young Sports Ambassadors have been retrained this term and we have also added two new Year 3 children and three Year 6 children.

This term also gave the opportunity for some of our Year 5/6 children to train for the chance to be selected to play for county in netball and to attend a Sportshall athletics competition, again for qualification to represent the county. A big well done to everyone who took part, and huge congratulations to Leon who had great success and qualified to represent the county!

The Legacy tour will be coming to our school next term and our Young Ambassadors will be passing this on to Ropsley school.

Our competitions start the first week back with New Age Kurling. There is also a chance to experience a Paralympic sport during our Inspire+ Paralympic half day and also the Rotary Swimarathon to look forward to again.

Have a great Christmas everyone and thank you for your continued support with our school sport!
