Term 1 Sports Round Up

We have made a great start to our year of Sport. Many clubs are underway, events have taken place and we’ve started a new life with swimming. Our clubs have been attended brilliantly, as we have offered football, Lacrosse, Cross country, Table tennis and Netball. We have already taken part in two cross country events, with the majority of children beating their previous place in their second race and one of our pupils, Ebony, had huge success finishing 4th in her race. This event gave some of our children the opportunity to represent our school for the first time and they did so brilliantly.

Our Netball team have also had their first outing, playing our first set of league games and a friendly. The team showed great team spirit and put in fantastic effort having huge success. Again this has given some children the chance to represent and play competitive sport for the first time. We have been delighted to have Alison from our FOBS in working with our netball team sharing her knowledge and coaching the team.

This term also saw a new start for us with swimming, we now attend Sleaford Leisure Centre and this has been a breath of fresh air, the children have loved the lessons so far and the instructors have been brilliant, so we hope for even more success in swimming. We have changed our outlook on swimming and we now will only be sending Year 3 up to Christmas and Year 4 during the summer term, as this will give the children a longer period of swimming and hopefully enable them to attain the expected ability to swim 25m by the time they leave Primary school.

Finally this term saw our first run of sessions with Inspire+ coaches. This gave our Year 5 the opportunity to take part in Boxercise sessions, which they have thoroughly enjoyed, not only playing the sport but also working the such an enthusiastic coach!

Our Aldi sticker push has made a great start and with one last big push we will make it to the 300 stickers required for the free sports kit and to be entered for a chance to win a huge £20,000 (we can dream!). Thanks for your support in this!

Next term we will be attending the football tournament and will be playing football friendlies and hopefully some netball too.
