The 401 Challenge!

We are very pleased to let you know we will be taking part in a new sporting challenge set by the 401 Foundation Charity. In 2015, Inspire+ Ambassador and Charity founder Ben Smith, ran 401 marathons in 401 days - raising a huge £330,000 for anti-bullying charities. This time, Ben has set himself a new challenge: to complete a marathon in all 50 of the US states. But not only that, he will also be cycling from one marathon to the next. All of this in just 104 days!

As part of this challenge, Ben is setting the children their own virtual mission -  to complete a virtual 13,138.5 miles, a similar distance Ben will cover (cycle) on his journey across America. To do this, a step converter has been used to work out the average amount of steps for 15 minutes of a variety of sports. Each class will then work together to try and complete the distance.

All PE lessons and afterschool clubs in school will count towards the total. If your child does any other activities or sport outside of school you can send in details of how long and what activity they have done and we can add it to their total, into their own virtual mission passport!

We have sent home a parents welcome pack via ParentMail which contains lots more details and a smaller conversion chart including some popular sports I know some of our children take part in outside of school! Please click HERE to download copies if needed.
