The Inspirational Sarah Outen

We were excited to welcome the inspirational Inspire+ Ambassador Sarah back to Belmont last week to talk to us about her adventures travelling around the world. She held us enthralled as she spoke about the challenges she faced on her 4 1/2 year journey.

Sarah stressed the importance of keeping ourselves fit and healthy and told us how she managed to do so whilst travelling the globe using only a bike, kayak or boat. She asked us what we could do to look after ourselves - not only making sure we eat healthy food and do exercise but also taking care of our mental health. The children were curious to know how she managed when things were not going well, missing her family or was bored. Sarah told us how it is normal to have these sad feelings sometimes, but it is important to have support, whether from family or friends. She encouraged us to be positive - she never got bored because she always found something good to see or do!

Following the assembly, the children in Sambar Class were very lucky to have their own Q & A session with Sarah.

We would all like to say a big thank you to Sarah for taking the time to visit us, and hope she comes back soon.
