Wishing You A Great Summer

As we approach the end of the school year and we prepare to say goodbye to our Year 6s it seems a fitting time to reflect on the past year. The year has been an exciting and eventful one, high quality learning, visits, performances and events have all combined to develop a sense of team spirit and pride in our children, staff and the wider community as a whole. We were all extremely proud of the outcomes of our Ofsted inspection in the spring – where everyone’s hard work and commitment was recognised.

For us the end of the school year isn’t just about celebration of the things we’ve achieved but also about the exciting opportunities ahead.  It was lovely to see the children spending time with their new classes and new teachers recently and we are all looking forward to the adventures that we will share over the year ahead.

We will continue to implement rigorous and relentless school development in order to ensure that Belmont provide the very best provision and outcomes for all of our pupils.  The focus for our development over the next school year are the following:

  • Further curriculum development - so that all learning is as engaging and aspirational as possible
  • The development of the ‘language of expertise’ – where pupils can use ambitious and correct language when working as scientists, geographers and artists etc
  • To make sure that all of our pupils have every opportunity to engage with the wider community and even the wider world – whilst giving parents and carers more opportunities to come into school and see learning in action
  • To ensure that even more pupils are working at the Greater Depth (GDS) in English and Mathematics.

I am incredibly proud of the children and staff of Belmont – together they work tirelessly to achieve their very best and this is why the school continues to build on our growing success.  Another group who I would like to extend my thanks to are the FOBs team whose hard work has raised an impressive amount of money to enhance the children’s experience at school even further.

I wanted to take this opportunity to say farewell to our Year 6s.  They have all grown as learners under the guidance of  Mr Grossmith this year and we are confident that they will continue to thrive as they move on to the next phase in their education. They have led by example, working hard to achieve their targets and taking very seriously their wider responsibilities around school.  I’m sure you would all want to join with me in saying well done, good luck and remember to come back and visit whenever you can!

Finally, I would like to finish by wishing you all a very happy and safe summer and to say how much we are already looking forward to your continued support during an exciting year ahead.

Best wishes,

Matthew Davidson
