Reindeer 2024 - 2025

Fun In The Snow!

We were SO excited to get some snow in Reception Class! We enjoyed reading lots of winter stories before wrapping up warm and heading out into the snow! We had so much fun making footprints, rolling snowballs, building snowmen… and even a snow reindeer! We loved the sound of our welly boots crunching across the snow too! ☃️❄️ So much fun!

Across the week, we also enjoyed cooking icy treats in our outdoor kitchen, making snowy potions and using the watercolour paints to mix colours into the snow and ice! We love to make the most of the weather in Reception!

Children In Need Day

We had a lovely day raising money for Children in Need! Thank you for the kind donations and wonderful outfits - everyone looked fantastic! 💛🌟

During the day we read the story ‘Pudsey’s Great Fundraiser’ and spoke about how our money was going to be sent to help children who might not be as lucky as us. We enjoyed colouring pictures of Pudsey, heading out around school on a ‘Pudsey Hunt’ and doing our very own spotty science experiment! As it was also Footprint Friday, we loved creating our own giant Pudsey Bear from nature! We worked together to collect lots of yellow leaves for Pudsey’s face, some sticks to create his bandana and smiley mouth, a cone for his eye and some bottle tops for his spots! What an exciting day for a wonderful cause! 💛

In Remembrance

As the week began with Remembrance Day, we watched a beautiful animation, ‘Poppies’, created by CBeebies. It opened up the discussion about why we wear poppies and who we are remembering. Throughout the week, lots of us have created our own poppies and many of us have worked together to create a giant painted poppy field in our classroom! The finished project is something to be proud of!

A Fire Engine On The Playground!

We were so excited to have a visit from Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue this week! We got a chance to look inside the fire engine and see all of the special equipment that is kept inside ready for an emergency! We even got to sit inside the fire engine, see and hear the blue emergency sirens and have a go at squirting water from the firefighters hose! What an exciting visit - we loved it

A Great First Term!

We have had a great first term at Belmont exploring our topic ‘Marvellous Me!’ We have enjoyed getting to know each other, making new friends and celebrating  how we are all unique and special. We have explored our emotions and feelings with help from ‘The Colour Monster’, enjoyed drawing, painting and using nature to create self portraits, designed our own lollipop houses when drawing our families and enjoyed some fruit tasting after speaking about how we can keep our bodies healthy! What a busy first term at Belmont!

Footprint Fridays!

Last week we headed out in our wellies for our first ‘Footprint Friday’ of the year! We loved exploring our woodland area, searching for mini-beasts using the clipboards and magnifying glasses and building dens using the large sticks! We enjoyed a story together sat on the tree stumps and listened so well to our new rules! We spoke about how to look after living things, how to carry sticks safely and how to spot nettles. We had so much fun outdoors together and are already looking forward to all the weekly outdoor adventures we’ve got to come!

Our First Weeks At Belmont!

Our youngest learners in Reception have had such a busy first few weeks at Belmont! We have loved exploring both indoor and outdoor environments with our new friends and making lots of lovely memories. We have enjoyed having tea parties in our home corner, getting creative in our ‘Art Studio’, searching for treasure in our indoor sand pit and baking cakes in the ‘Dough Kitchen’. As a class, we have also enjoyed lots of stories, dancing, dough disco and creating some large-scale artwork using the colourful pastels. I am so proud of how well everyone has settled in; it is lovely to see so many smiling faces already! 😊
