We were very busy in Impala Class working on our Design and Technology project all about Aqueducts! After learning about Roman Aqueducts, we decided to design our own, first testing out some suitable materials for our aqueducts to be made from and then making them together in groups.
Due to the restrictions placed upon us by Covid-19, our Harvest Celebration was a little different this year! The children in Impala and Barasingha recorded a very special video for their parents and carers. You can see an edited version in our Belmont Media section - please click to go directly to the page.
Moving Mammoths D&T Day’
We all really enjoyed creating our own moving mammoths for D&T day! First we learnt all about pneumatics and how we can use air to move things. After exploring this using syringes and objects, we planned our mammoth creation and decided which body part that we wanted to move. After lots of planning, experimenting and having a go, we could finally hold our finished project! We were so proud of our nodding mammoths that we created in our groups. Well done Impala!
We Took Part In Some Talk Shows!
Our topic in history this term is the Stone Age, and we have been comparing our lives to those of Stone Age children. We all had great fun when they took on different roles to make a talk show - that of an interviewer, a child from the Stone Age and a child from 2020. They all had such great ideas and the activity really helped with the understanding of the topic.
Everyone is working incredibly hard in our Maths lessons. Despite such a long break due to lockdown, they are making great progress!
Teachers have filmed some guides for how this topic is taught at Belmont, which can be found in our Belmont Media section of the site. Please click HERE to go directly to it.
What an amazing afternoon learning about the art of cave painting in the Stone Age. We then created our own cave painting in our own ‘cave’ and shared our stories together! We all had the best afternoon!
