Belmont School uses Microsoft Teams to support home learning. Teams allows teachers to set work online that can be completed by children at home. It can be accessed through any device - PC, tablet or smart phone. When logged on, children are able to connect with their teacher and classmates. They will find learning that has been set as well as instructions for how to complete it. Children may be asked to watch a video, complete an online quiz, or write in their books. They will have access to Word, PowerPoint and Excel and are able to easily upload a photo of their work - it doesn't need to be printed out. Importantly, children can message their teacher if they get stuck or would like extra work and they will know their teacher will see their work when it's been completed.
It is important that we know your child is able to login and access Teams. You should have already received their user name and password. If you have any difficulties, please contact your child's class teacher as soon as possible. A guide for using Teams has also been sent home but a further copy of the guide can be obtained by clicking HERE.
Below, you will find videos which give very simple steps on how to log on to Teams, how to submit work, how your child can communicate with their teacher, and how your child can join a Teams meeting. Please take the time to watch the video that is best suited to how your child will be accessing Teams so they can be prepared to use it when asked.
How To View Work Using A PlayStation Or XBox
The instructions for how to connect to Microsoft Teams from a PlayStation, will be very similar for an Xbox. The video below finishes with a sample worksheet on the screen. This can be enlarged by clicking on it using X.
Accessing the site via a PlayStation or XBox will allow your child to see the work that has been set and they will be able to use the chat function to contact their class teacher and to ask for extra help. To upload their work however, other resources such as a camera will have to be linked to the PlayStation to take a picture of the completed work. We would recommend submitting the work from a phone or tablet but the PlayStation is useful to view the work for that day on a larger screen.
Remember once they have logged in, your child should send their teacher a message to let them know they have access.
