Art & Design

The teaching of art, craft and design stimulates creativity, enhances imagination and inspires children to formulate and communicate ideas, think critically and express their thoughts and feelings. It engages, inspires and challenges all pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to experiment, invent and create their own unique works of art, craft and design. The teaching of Art provides valuable educational, as well as social and cultural, experiences for children of all ages and gives children a meaningful insight into the value of art in the diverse world around us. Children are taught to appraise the work of famous artists, painters, sculptors, printmakers, architects and textile designers, as well as art that they themselves produce. Inspiring this self-confidence, ambition and evaluation of practice in early education is integral for the success of our future artists.

Details of the Art curriculum including how it is taught and evaluated along with how we support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities can found in the documents below.
