Reindeer 2019 - 2020

Some Of Our Work

We certainly had a very busy year! As part of our topic on the Polar Regions, the children learnt about reindeer and created some super information sheets and wonderful paintings. They selected and blended their colours, using a finger to paint the reindeer before adding more detail. You can see some fabulous examples below.

Even the very youngest in the school use the Internet, both at school and at home, so it’s important they know how to keep safe when doing so. On Safer Internet day, we read and talked about ‘Digiduck’s Big Decision’ and they drew some lovely pictures of the important things they remembered. We're proud to say that after sharing the drawings on Twitter, the author of Digiduck - Lindsay Buck - replied to say how much she liked them too!

During RE week, the class took part in a workshop with Jane from Barnabas in Schools which we all enjoyed very much. Also during the week, we learnt the story of Noah's Ark and how a rainbow was God's sign of his promise never to flood the world again. The children thought very carefully of a promise they would like to make - you can see some super examples below.

Chinese New Year

We had lots of fun celebrating the Chinese New Year. The children had the opportunity to try Chinese food using chopsticks; write Chinese letters on fans as well as paint and make some wonderful dragons!

Learning With Food!

It's Christmas!

The children certainly enjoyed their first Christmas at Belmont! I was so proud of them all when they took part in our Christmas production of the Nativity. On the last day of term, they loved taking part in the Christingle and then having their party in the classroom. It was so exciting when Santa came in and gave the class a present! Later, we joined with the rest of the school to take part in the Christmas singalong. They sang and danced so well in front of the large audience.

Fun With Rev Sam!

We had a wonderful time when Rev Sam from the Church of the Ascension visited our classroom. She shared the story of the Nativity and the children thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas crafts.

An Exciting Afternoon!

The children were so excited to see a fire engine parked on their playground and loved the opportunity to take a closer look! it was great fun using the hose!
