FOBS FIRST MEETING & AGM

The Friends of Belmont School (FOBS) will be holding our AGM and first meeting of the new school year on Tuesday, 17 October from 2:00 pm in the Studio.

Parents, friends and families of the school community are very welcome attend. You will be able to learn about the FOBS and how you can get involved with this tremendous organisation.

Thank You!

Thank you very much for your support this year with the various FOBS events. Just to let you know, we’ve raised just under £400 through our Summer Fayre and Raffle. Thank you for all the donations on Non-Uniform Day, and for coming along to the fayre. We hope the children enjoyed the fayre despite the onset of rain half-way through. We wish you all a fantastic summer and are looking forward to welcome new volunteers in September.

Keep an eye out on our FOBS Facebook page for updates, news and activities to do over summer.

Many thanks,

Anna James, FOBS Chair

FOBS Summer Fayre - Friday, 30 June 2023

The FOBS Summer Fayre will take place on Friday, 30 June 2023 from 3:30pm until 5:30pm.

Please save the date and tell friends and family about it – this year’s fayre is set to be BIGGER than ever before! We desperately need volunteers to help us run our games stalls, as well as help with set up & clearing away afterwards.

Please consider helping out, even if it’s only for 30 minutes (no experience or special skills necessary). The more helpers we have, the smoother the running of the event which means everyone (especially our children) can enjoy making memories. You can leave your details at the school office or email us on fobs@belmont.lincs.sch.uk.

In support of our fayre, there will be a Non-Uniform Day on Friday, 9 June 2023.

Children can come to school dressed in summer clothes (sensible shoes (no flipflops) and sun hats please), in return for a donation towards our tombola and raffle. Further information about what sort of donations are appreciated will be sent out after the half-term break.

The Belmont Talent Show is returning this year, children can sign up for performance slots after the half-term break…a letter will be available for those who are interested in taking part.

Last, but not least, we still have stall spaces left – all big/small businesses and organisations are welcome, as well as top table sales - please get in touch for more details.

Thank you for your continued support!

Also, we will be holding a Pre-loved Book Sale on Thursday, 2 March 2023 on the Junior Playground at the end of the school day.

FOBS Christmas Fayre - Friday, 9 December 2022

You are ALL warmly invited to come along to our annual Christmas Fayre, happening on Friday, 9 December from 15:30 until 17:30!

(Don’t forget that Friday, 2 December is our FOBS Non-Uniform Day in support of the fayre – a Parentmail has already been sent out.)

This year, for the first time, our Pupil Parliament will be running their own stall and we have lots of things planned for the whole family! We hope a very special visitor will make an appearance, too!

It takes great team effort to make the fayre most enjoyable for all our children. We therefore NEED MORE HELPERS, especially to help the Year 6 children to run our stalls. We also need cakes/cookies/mince pies donations on the day for us to sell at the refreshments stall.

If you can help in one way or another, please get in touch or leave your details at the school office.

Thank you for your continued support - we are looking forward to welcoming you all and our local community.

FOBS Summer Newsletter

As the summer holidays are imminent,  we would like to take the opportunity to thank each one of you for your exceptional support this year! What a very busy 2021/2022 academic year it has been, not just for the school, but for the FOBS Team, too!

This year really marked our “comeback” after more than 2 years of restrictions, which prevented us from holding our usual in-person events. Despite the long hiatus, we were determined to put “Community” back into Belmont, both by involving YOU and our local community as much as possible, and by engaging with our surrounding community more broadly. Together with Team Belmont as a whole, FOBS have certainly achieved this! Evidenced not just by the success in fundraising, but also by the sheer amount and variety of activities we have held throughout this year! Additionally, FOBS have also been able to build up on our Facebook/Twitter followers (FOBS Facebook and FOBS Twitter).

You, too, can get involved by liking and sharing our FOBS page/posts and we would equally welcome reviews and feedback on our events. In our Summer Newsletter (download HERE), you will find:

  • An overview of all the events/activities that FOBS undertook this year
  • An overview of our fundraising efforts (by event  and overall)
  • How you can get involved with FOBS
  • How you can support FOBS outside of events/planned activities

On behalf of the FOBS Team, a big thank you again to Team Belmont for all your support this year! We hope that you all have a fantastic summer!

FOBS Summer Raffle

With over 30 amazing prizes from local businesses, our Summer Raffle tickets are now on sale. Prizes will be drawn via a Facebook Live broadcast on Friday, 8 July 2022.

Raffle tickets will be on sale at our Summer Fayre on Friday, 10 June and the school Sports Day on Friday, 1 July, but should you require more tickets for yourself, family or friends, they are also available from the school office. All stubs, unsold tickets and monies need to be returned to school by Thursday, 7 July 2022 at the latest.

A copy of the letter sent via ParentMail about how to purchase tickets can be downloaded HERE.

It was very close in the end, but what a team effort and what a result!

Well done and thank you to everyone who voted for us and shared with others! Thank you to Asda Grantham for making it possible.

1 June 2022

The FOBS Team are very excited to announce our upcoming FOBS SUMMER FAYRE 2022!

It will be a fantastic afternoon with lots for the whole family to enjoy, so mark your calendars and tell your friends/neighbours/anyone you know - especially as we are welcoming our local community for the very first time!

Please see click HERE for further information regarding the Great Belmont Bake Off and how to purchase raffle tickets.

We urgently NEED VOLUNTEER HELPERS on the day of the event (for set-up, during the fayre – to help run our games stalls etc and for cleaning up at the end)!

Without enough volunteers, our stalls will not be able to go ahead and the children especially will miss out, so we are depending on people to come forward to help (even if it’s only 30 minutes).

Many thanks in advance!

Should you have any questions regarding the event, please contact us via email to fobs@belmont.lincs.sch.uk or leave a message at the school office.

Regards, The FOBS Team

FOBS Becomes Part Of The Co-Op Local Community Fund! - December 2020

The FOBS Team are delighted to announce that we have been selected to take part in the Co-op Local Community Fund! This is a very exciting funding opportunity, both for FOBS and the school, which can potentially have a great impact on the whole school community.

How does the Co-Op Community Fund work?

FOBS are one of three new causes within Grantham which Co-op Members can select to support between now and 23 October 2021. The more Co-Op members who select us as their chosen cause and shop with Co-Op, the more funds we will receive.

Our cause (Cause-ID 45446) is linked to the two Co-Op food stores (Princess Drive & Dysart Road) and the Co-Op Funeralcare branch (Bridge End Road) in Grantham. You can see our Co-Op Cause Profile page here: https://membership.coop.co.uk/causes/45446

What does this mean for you? How can you support us?

Every time a Member buys selected Co-Op own brand products and services from a Co-Op Group Food store or Co-Op Funeralcare, anywhere in the UK, 2p of every £1 spent goes into their Membership Rewards account and the same amount is allocated to support community organisations and local causes.

If you already are a Co-Op Member, please select us as your cause (Cause-ID 45446) and make sure you swipe your membership card when shopping in Co-Op stores or inform a Funeralcare colleague that you are a Member. This will ensure that you don’t miss out on your Membership Rewards and can generate funding for our cause.

Should you have any friends and/or family who shop at Co-Op, anywhere in the UK, please tell them about FOBS, pass on our direct Cause Profile page link (https://membership.coop.co.uk/causes/45446) and encourage them to select us as their chosen cause.

How do I and others become a Co-Op Member & what benefits will I get from it?

If you are not a Member yet, it is very easy to sign up by visiting coop.co.uk/membership or downloading the Co-op App at coop.co.uk/coop-app. To become a Member, you must pay £1 and this £1 buys you one share in the Co-op Group – this means you own part of the business and can have your say in how it’s run.

Additionally, and more importantly, as a Member you will receive personalised offers every week, have access to exclusive member deals and discounts on Co-op services like Insurance, Funeralcare and Legal Services. You will also be able to spend your earned Membership Rewards within the Co-Op Group.

What’s next?

Have a look at our Cause Profile page and find out what exactly we are raising money for and how it would impact the school community. The page also shows the amount of money our cause has raised to date, so you can track how the fund is developing.

Then, SHARE – SHARE – SHARE! Let people know about FOBS and how they can make a difference by supporting us while doing their normal shopping. Make sure you follow us on Twitter and like our Facebook page, too!

Let’s get this funding opportunity be the best it can be, Team Belmont!

Should you have any questions, please contact us via fobs@belmont.lincs.sch.uk or visit our brand new FOBS page to find out more about us!

We Need You! - November 2020

Currently, the FOBS Team consists of a small group of parents, some of whom will leave us as their children are currently in Year 6 and will move onto secondary schools at the end of this academic year. We, therefore, desperately need more members to ensure that we can continue to do the activities necessary in order to raise essential funds for the school.

A few of the FOBS Team members hold an official position and/or are Charity Trustees, as this is required by the Charity Commission for the smooth and legal running of our charity. However, this is totally optional and anyone can become a FOBS member or volunteer regardless of whether you’ll have an official position or not. We welcome all parents, relatives and local community members to join us in our endeavour to create unforgettable events and activities for all Belmont children while enhancing the school’s facilities.

If you would like more information or have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to contact us either via email fobs@belmont.lincs.sch.uk or via the contact form on the main FOBS page.
