The Green Tree Schools Award

As you know, everyone at Belmont is passionate about caring for our environment, not only within our school grounds but also our local community. Children are given the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors; whether that be Footprint Friday in Reindeer Class, lessons and storytelling in the Wildlife Area, the recently introduced KS2 Forest School or the gardening club whose members also tend the Millennium Garden on Harrowby Lane. This year, children have also experienced bluebell and snowdrop planting in Queen Elizabeth Park and hedgerow planting in Londonthorpe Woods.

In recognition of all the work we do, we are very proud to let you know that we have achieved a bronze Green Tree Schools Award! Organised by the Woodland Trust, schools are rewarded for doing environmental projects such as tree planting, reducing CO2 emissions and visiting woods. We would like to say a huge thank you to Mrs Pallier, the Woodland Trust and the Londonthorpe and Harrowby Without Parish Council for their tremendous support.
