Caring For Our Community

We had a lovely afternoon collecting litter on the grass area on Kennilworth Road as part of the Great British Spring Clean at the end of term 4. The children did a fantastic job and we had so much fun!

Chimpanzees!

In Science, the children have been learning about Jane Goodall, the famous scientist who was known for her discoveries about chimpanzee behaviour. They made binoculars, learnt about chimpanzee emotions and behaviours, then observed them!

Making Our Dojo Monster Puppets

During the Spring term, the children have been practising their DT skills in order to make their own Dojo monster puppets. After learning how to join fabric in three different ways – with glue, staples and safety pins, the children designed their own puppets and then had great fun making them. We think they look great!

Collecting Data

For a computing lesson during the Spring term, we collected and recorded data. We identified and counted minibeasts, creating a tally chart. Then we showed this data digitally on a bar chart.

Our Visit To Great Wood Farm

We had a fantastic time at the Great Wood Farm Early Years Centre! Spending the day exploring the farm, the children were given the opportunity to feed the cade lambs, create pictures using wool and then learn more about trees. They did a great job identifying oaks, Scots pines, and silver birches, deciding whether they were evergreen or deciduous.

Our thanks to everyone at the Centre for making us feel so very welcome.

Going On A Spring Hunt!

In Geography, we went on a Spring hunt! The children took photos of the signs of Spring and turned them into a poster on Picollage. We had such a fun afternoon.

How Have Toys Changed?

Our history topic in the Spring term is 'How have toys changed?, and the children enjoyed the opportunity to investigate old toys kindly sent on loan from the Lincoln Museum. They especially loved bringing in their own favourite teddy bear to see how they compared to the first teddy bears invented in 1902.

Seventies Day!

We had a great time on Seventies Day - everyone looked wonderful. There were lots of activities throughout the day, including tie-dying, dancing and singing which were great fun!

Our Sculptures

In art this term, the children have been learning about sculptures and how to create their own 3D structures. They learnt how to roll paper into cylinders that they then combined. After learning more paper folding techniques they worked in pairs to create a 3D tree. They were very proud of their results!

A Miracle In Town

I am so very proud of the children who along with Reindeer and Elk classes performed beautifully in their wonderful Christmas production of 'A Miracle In Town'. All of the actors, narrators, singers, and instrumentalists worked so hard and they were very excited to be able to perform in front of their families.

May I say a huge thank you to everyone at home who helped the children learn their words and songs!

Children In Need Day

The children look wonderfully bright and colourful on what was a gloomy, wet Children in Need day. Thank you to everyone who made a donation.

Our Fabulous Art Exhibition

We were so excited to welcome our parents and carers to see our fantastic artworks at the end of term. The children worked incredibly hard to produce fabulous portraits and self-portraits which were on display at our Key Stage 1 Art Exhibition. Thank you to everyone who came along, it was wonderful to see the children sharing their work with you.

Interviewing Mr Horan

Our topic during the first term is 'How am I making history?' and the children have been learning about how school was different in the past. We loved interviewing Mr Horan, one of our school governors about his childhood. The children had so many questions and found out a great deal.

We're Inspired By Music!

Our Art learning during the first term is drawing - making a mark. During one of our lessons, the children drew different lines using music as a stimulus.

PE With Mr Kyberd

The children loved their PE lesson with Mr Kyberd where they learnt to jump and balance.

Forest School

The children have been very excited to start their first Forest School sessions with Mrs Pallier! Forest School aims to support the whole child – their physical, mental and emotional development - and build on a child’s innate motivation and positive attitude to learning, offering them the opportunities to take  supported risks, make choices and initiate learning for themselves, in a woodland or natural environment.

The sessions take place weekly, whatever the weather! As well as a suitable coat, we ask that children are provided with a pair of named wellies in a bag that can be brought into school on their Forest School day or kept in school if easier!
