"You Have A Voice, You Have A Choice, You Can Make A Difference"
Pupils from Years 5 and 6 are elected to take part in the Lincolnshire Mini Police project led by a member of staff. They work alongside Lincolnshire Police with the aim of making a difference to our school and to our local community by being good citizens within the school environment and being helpful to other children. Some of their tasks during the year will be to:
During the project, they meet regularly with our local PCSO to learn how to communicate with a wide range of people in different ways and learn more about the values of tolerance, perseverance and respect. They are given the opportunity to have a leading role in leading changes within our local area and will be encouraged to be role models for their peers. It is also hoped that the project helps break down barriers between children and the Police so that children will develop the confidence to approach and trust the Police.
We are proud to have joined forces with Just Lincolnshire, a local charity that champions equality, tackles discrimination and celebrates the richly diverse makeup of Lincolnshire. Through their training, children are given new skills to empower and enable them to promote equality and fairness. They develop life skills that they can take with them as they grow.
Our trained Equality Ambassadors are out and about around school every playtime to help everyone keep safe and be happy.

We are proud to have joined forces with Inspire+, a local non-profit-making sports and education charity that aims to positively impact young people’s lives by ensuring that the next generation is ‘healthy, happy and active’. The charity has in place a Leadership Pathway, part of which is the Young Sports Ambassador programme, which offers invaluable leadership experience. Children develop skills that empower them to support our PE Lead, promote and run clubs and celebrate team achievements.
At Belmont, our Bronze Young Ambassadors are encouraged to take active roles in organising key events, such as the Legacy Tour assembly and the Mini Olympics event held annually at The Meres. This involvement allows them to develop essential skills in communication, planning, and teamwork. We encourage them to put forward their own ideas, fostering an active, supportive, and engaging environment in our school.

At Belmont, we provide pupils with a broad general knowledge of, and promote respect for, public institutions and service. We also teach pupils how they can influence decision-making through the democratic process and ensure they are listened to in school.
Pupils are very proud to become members of our Pupil Parliament. Elected by their peers, each class has a representative in the parliament that then chooses ministers and a secretary. The MPs are given the opportunity to discuss whole school issues and put forward their ideas to a nominated member of staff, and they provide feedback to their classes.
All pupils in Year 5 and Year 6 are given the opportunity to visit the Houses of Parliament in London. On our most recent trip, the children met with our local MP.
