Taruca - Year 6

Welcome to Year 6. The last year of Primary School - the perfect year for making memories.

I am delighted to get to work with such an amazing group of children, and to be a small part in their continuing stories. Over the course of the year we will laugh, cry (with happiness) and learn our socks off.

We get to learn through practical opportunities and in ways not available to younger children. Together we will get ready for Secondary School and life in a larger social circle.

Like in every year, home reading is fundamental to progress. Our Year 6's are expected to read at least five times a week. This can and should be a mix of texts - including reading for pleasure and Accelerated Reader books.

Homework will be coming home weekly as well as spellings. This will increase in challenge and quantity across the year in order to prepare children for Secondary School.

We still use our Times Tables Rock Stars, Rollama, Zumos and Accelerated Reader apps - if you cannot access any of these apps, please get in touch.

I am excited about the year we have ahead. Not just our residential trip but also to get to see all the children grow and mature.
