As part of our geography learning, we went on a field trip to Wyndham Park at the end of term 4. We met with River Care Grantham to learn about the River Witham and how we can help keep it healthy. The children also helped to clean the local area as part of the Great British Spring Clean.
Later the same week, our class took part in litter picking on Polygon Walk down to Fourth Avenue. We are so proud of them all, they have made a real difference to our local community.
We would like to thank everyone at River Care Grantham for a great and informative afternoon at the park and for the loan of the litter picking equipment. You can find out more about them on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/rivercaregrantham

In DT, the children have learnt how to do blanket stitch and have created their own fabulous stuffed toys!
The class was very excited to take part in Forest School with Mrs Pallier at the beginning of term 4. During their first session they were hunting for, and investigating animals. They used binoculars to spot birds and magnifying pots to explore minibeasts. They used a variety of identification charts to help them too.
We took a step back in time when we spent the day at Gainsborough Old Hall. The children had the opportunity to learn about the Tudors and how a king would have been treated when he visited the Hall. They had great fun wearing costumes and taking on the roles of servants and guests at a banquet for King Henry VIII – who actually attended a banquet in the room they used when he visited in 1541!
We enjoyed an online assembly with Dan Hawbrook from the Stay Safe Partnership on Safer Internet Day, which this year has the theme around, 'Smart tech, safe choices – exploring the safe and responsible use of AI'.
What a great time we had on Seventies Day – everyone looked fab! The children had a great time taking part in seven different activities including: tie-dying, dancing and singing to 70’s songs, making a Photo Booth and playing lots of retro games!

We are very impressed by the wonderful models created at home! Here a a few examples.
As part of our Design & Technology project on Playground Structures, the children used recyclable materials to design and build their own creative playground models. There were some wonderful designs and we were very excited when the year 2 children visited so we could show off our hard work!
During the first term we have been learning about installation art. We are very impressed with our fantastic creations!
For our science topic in term 1, we have been investigating mixtures and separations. The children have explored different types of mixtures and the different methods that can be used to separate them.
Learning First Aid is an important skill and we were delighted to welcome Paige from Inspire+ who led two fantastic workshops on the topic with our class and the children from Taruca. Topics covered included how to administer an epipen in the event of an anaphylaxis shock, how to create a sling and how to do cpr and put people into a recovery position.
The children thoroughly enjoyed the workshops and we send our huge thanks to Paige for a great day.
The class thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the healthy eating workshop with Chef Darren from Roots To Food at the beginning of term.
They had a fabulous time as they practiced peeling, chopping and frying techniques whilst working as a team to create a healthy family meal - Singapore Noodles. The food tasted absolutely delicious - you can find the recipe in the photos below.
Afterwards, Darren commented, "It was a pleasure to return to Belmont. The children demonstrated terrific cooking practices, food techniques and nutritional value. The food theme was a huge success as almost all the children loved the food they created."
We're looking forward to his next visit!
