The children in Year 6 – Taruca Class had an incredible opportunity to explore their themed work on World War II when they visited the National Holocaust Centre and Museum in Laxton on the last day of the Spring term.
During the day, they explored The Journey exhibition, where they followed the journey of a young fictional Jewish boy called Leo growing up in 1930s Berlin who is sent to safety in the UK as a child refugee on the Kindertransport. The class was able to look at, touch and discuss artifacts from the era and heard the stories of real survivors who had travelled to England on the Kindertransport as children. The trip was an incredibly powerful experience which the children accessed with sensitivity and compassion. We thank everyone at the Centre for making us feel so welcome.
