Fallow 2020 - 2021

Bug Hotels

At the end of term, the children had a great time working together in pairs to design and build bug hotels. We are very proud of their creations!

Pencil Pots

The children really enjoyed making their own clay pencil pots in our Design and Technology sessions! We firstly practiced the techniques of coiling, pinching, and scoring which they then used to create their own designs. We have evaluated our finished product and we cannot wait to start using them to keep our pencils tidy!

We Saw A Fire Engine!

The children were very excited when they visited the Wildlife Area after the Easter break! They were thrilled to see a fire engine and members of the Fire Service who had come along to fill the newly renovated pond for us.

The Life Education Bus

We really enjoyed the visit by the Life Education Bus where we looked at healthy eating, what we need to do everyday to stay healthy and looking at our wonderful bodies. We loved seeing Harold!

Christmas Smiles!

This year, more than any other, we really wanted the children to be able to celebrate the Christmas season, having a great time together, with lots of fun and laughter. They were so excited to spot Santa in the school grounds and then speak to him via a Teams call at the beginning of the last week of term! They also had great fun taking part in the Santa Dash, running and dancing round the playground to some great Christmas music.

The last day of course, meant it was party time! After eating and playing games in their classrooms, everyone was able to take part in a special Christmas quiz devised and hosted by Taruca Class via Zoom! The Barasingha and Elk Classes were very excited to win with a magnificent 29/30!

Despite the challenges we’ve faced this term, Year 1 have done a fantastic job of carrying on with big smiles on their faces. Their determination, independence and progress in their learning has continued to grow and I am really proud of how far they have come since September.

Nativity!

Our Christmas nativity play was rather different this year as we were unable to put on the traditional performance in the hall. Instead, Mr Allsopp and the Key Stage One team decided to make a film which would allow the children to stay safely in their bubbles.

The children in Elk Class had great fun acting their parts in the school grounds, whilst those in Reindeer and Fallow provided some terrific singing wearing their fabulous Christmas jumpers! They all worked very hard learning their lines and singing their songs and from the smiles on their faces, loved every minute of it!

Super Design & Technology!

The children really enjoyed their Design & Technology lessons this term where they designed and made some fantastic Santa pop-ups!

Odd Socks Day!

The children loved wearing their odd socks when we took part in Odd Socks Day in support of Anti-bullying Week! The theme of the day was that it is okay to be different and we spent time talking about why we are all special and how we can be friends with others.

Feeling Confident!

We were very excited when we joined a TEAMS call with Inspire+ Operations Manager, Chris Graves and double Olympian swimmer Lizzie Simmonds. After talking to the children about her career, Lizzie spoke about the importance of being confident - what that actually means, what it looks like and how it can help. There were lots of brilliant responses from the whole school including a comment from our class saying that being confident is when you find something easy and then go on to do something trickier! We agreed that to be confident, you have to believe in yourself.

Below you can see a photo of the children practising being a confident super hero!

Autumn Day

What fun we had on Autumn Day! We really enjoyed going outside and identifying all the different things we found growing on the field and playground.

Our Fantastic Class Poem!

We all really enjoyed writing our poem about Autumn!

A Great Start To The Term!

Everyone is already working very hard in class! Our Star Achievers have exemplified the commitment to learning shown by all of the children. Here you can see a great example of a science learning journey all about animals, as well as a super innovation of a well known story.
