Mental Health & Wellbeing

‘Mental wellbeing is how we are feeling and coping with the things we face everyday. Just like physical health, sometimes it is good and sometimes not so good. You could think of it as mental fitness.’

At Belmont, we care about the all round development of children, not only their academic success. We know that children learn better and are happier in school if their emotional needs are also addressed, and we aim to do this with all children. However, there will always be some children in school facing life challenges that need greater support to increase their emotional literacy than others.

In addition to the support provided to families by our Family Liaison Officer, we have the the following in place to support children with their emotional development: the 5 Ways To Wellbeing programme; access to the Zumos wellbeing website; individual and group ELSA support as well as PSHE/RSE objectives that run throughout our curriculum and are taught discretely when appropriate to support children with key skills or at specific times.

For further information, please click on the headings below. If you have any queries about the support your child may need, please contact their class teacher. A contact form can be found on each class page of our website.
