Wheelchair Sports
Carl from Inspire+ delivered 10 sports wheelchairs to school in the first week of the summer term and our class had the opportunity to work with Carl to learn how to use them! The chairs give an excellent perspective on disability sports and give the children a chance to experience the different skills required.
World book day 2025!
We had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Day! After completing some fun English activities, we really enjoyed going outside to hear a story in the Wildlife Area and reading together in the playground.
Forest School
The children were very excited to start their first Forest School afternoons with Mrs Pallier where they began by learning about different types of knots! Forest School aims to support the whole child – their physical, mental and emotional development - and build on a child’s innate motivation and positive attitude to learning, offering them the opportunities to take supported risks, make choices and initiate learning for themselves, in a woodland or natural environment.
The sessions take place weekly, whatever the weather! As well as a suitable coat, we ask that children are provided with a pair of named wellies in a bag that can be brought into school on their Forest School day or kept in school if easier!
Building A Mechanical Car!
The children have really enjoyed our DT lessons where they are learning how to build and then test a mechanical car! We began by making a prototype of a simple prototype car chassis and then in lesson two built a prototype of a sustainable slingshot car chassis.
Safer Internet Day 2025 - 'Too good to be true? Protecting yourself and others from scams online.'
We have found out about how to be safe online and worked together to identify the scammers online! Well done Year 4!
Investigating Sound
We are enjoying our Science lessons investigating sound and how soundwaves work. We used a sound recorder to measure the noise in decibels and measured how far away we were from the source. We then had fun discovering how far we could pass a message to each other even when the original message was muffled. Out of three messages we identified two correctly. We were looking at insulation and how soundwaves travel through materials. We noticed that this stops the sound from travelling as well and makes our voices different. Great job everyone and fantastic teamwork!
Christmas Fun!
We have enjoyed lots and lots of festive fun … making our lovely crafts for the Christmas Fayre, visiting the Church for our Carol Service, taking part in the end of term Christmas quiz and of course our end of term party!
Aqueducts
As part of our DT learning on structures, the children designed and made aqueducts, They did a great job!
Odd Socks Day
The children loved wearing their odd socks when we took part in Odd Socks Day in support of Anti-bullying Week! The theme of the day was that it is okay to be different and we spent time talking about why we are all special and how we can be respectful and friends with others.
We Love Music!
In Music during the Autumn Term, we have been learning how to play glockenspiels! Mrs Harrison looks like she's having a great time too!
Harvest Festival
At the end of term 1, we joined with Impala Class to welcome our parents and carers in to school to join us for our harvest assembly. The children did a brilliant job and sang beautifully! They thought about why we celebrate harvest in the autumn and why we support people who are less fortunate than ourselves. We are very thankful for the generous donations of food which we have sent on to the Grantham Foodbank.
A Wonderful Time At Rand Farm!
We were very excited to go on our residential trip to Rand Farm at the beginning of the Autumn term! The children loved being able to feed and look after the various animals on the farm. In a very busy few days we learnt how to look after bees, saw a cow being milked and made a bird box and some delicious pizzas! We also enjoyed a tractor and trailer ride and Woodland Walk Bingo in Great West Wood.
We all had a brilliant time and we would like to give huge thanks everyone at Rand Farm for making us feel so welcome.
