Barasingha 2025 - 2026

Investigating Circuits

In science, we learnt about why appliances need switches and created an electrical circuit containing a switch. We also made a wobbly hand game in which we tried not to light the bulb!

Odd Socks Day

The children loved wearing their odd socks when we took part in Odd Socks Day in support of Anti-bullying Week! The theme of the day was that it is okay to be different and we spent time talking about why we are all special and how we can be respectful and friends with others. Thank you to all who came in odd socks! They all looked amazing!

Music & Dance

In music, we have been using body percussion to create the sound of a rainstorm. In PE, the children had a great time working in pairs or small groups to create a 'spy' dance!

Harvest Festival

At the end of term 1, we joined with Impala Class to welcome our parents and carers in to school to join us for our harvest assembly. The children did a brilliant job and sang beautifully! They thought about why we celebrate harvest in the autumn and why we support people who are less fortunate than ourselves. We are very thankful for the generous donations of food which we have sent on to the Grantham Foodbank.

A Fabulous Time At Rand Farm!

We had a fabulous time on our Rand Farm residential. Our first day was very busy - feeding animals, completing a woodland walk, going on a tractor ride and completing farm jobs!

We started our second day with some morning jobs like clearing out the animals enclosures and milking some cows. We then made our very own bird boxes out of wood (the children found this challenging but persevered), and learnt all about tomatoes by trying a variety and then planting our own to see if they’ll grow! In the afternoon, we spent some time at the park before completing our evening jobs - including feeding the animals!

We all had a brilliant visit and we would like to give huge thanks everyone at Rand Farm for making us feel so welcome.

Singapore Noodles With Chef Darren!

The class thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the healthy eating workshop with Chef Darren from Roots To Food at the beginning of term.

They had a fabulous time as they practiced peeling, chopping and frying techniques whilst working as a team to create a healthy family meal - Singapore Noodles. The food tasted absolutely delicious - you can find the recipe in the photos below.

Afterwards, Darren commented, "It was a pleasure to return to Belmont. The children demonstrated terrific cooking practices, food techniques and nutritional value. The food theme was a huge success as almost all the children loved the food they created."

We're looking forward to his next visit!
