Thirteen girls from last term's dance club had a great time at Walton Academy today when they took part in the School Games Cheerleading Festival along with four other schools. For most it was a sport they'd never experienced before. The children really enjoyed learning how to do a cheerleading 'walk-on', making up their own chant and doing two different technical lifts.
As you can see in the photos below, some of the girls learnt how to be 'fliers' which is standing on someone's back or shoulders; 'bases', which is forming a base for the flyer to stand on and 'spotters' which involves supporting the flyers to stay safely in the air. The girls were very excited to perform their final routine in front of their parents and carers. We are immensely proud of the way they supported each other throughout the day - well done everyone!
