Planting & Growing
In term 5 we have been exploring ‘planting & growing’ in Reception! We have planted our own sunflowers and wildflowers - we are making sure they are getting plenty of sunshine and water to help them grow! We have enjoyed creating some beautiful sunflower artwork to brighten our classroom and enjoyed making nature pizzas in our new mud kitchen! Not only this, but we have also been taking care of our own courgettes, pumpkins and tomato plants! A short but busy term in Reception!
Earth Day
We celebrated Earth Day on the 22 April by reading our story ‘Wild!’ π We spoke about how it is important to look after the plants, animals and people in our world! We talked a little about things that might be dangerous to our world, such as litter. To play our part in looking after the world, we headed outdoors for a litter picking competition… girls vs boys! We each had a peg to pick up any litter we found and put it into our teams’ bin bag! We had 20 minutes to collect as much as we could before heading back inside and emptying our bin bags to see which team had won! Well done to the boys who had collected the most π₯ … although both teams did so well and every child was SO eager to help which was lovely to see! ππΌπ
