At Belmont, we care about the all round development of children, not only their academic success. We know that children learn better and are happier in school if their emotional needs are also addressed, and we aim to do this with all of our children.
Forest School
Working outside in a natural environment is a great way for children to develop confidence and self-esteem; build positive relationships and develop a growing awareness of their emotional needs and the needs of others. Forest School is not a ‘one-off’ session but is built up long-term over regular opportunities for children to be in an outdoors woodland environment that allows all learners to achieve and develop skills of self-esteem and confidence. The children are able to undertake a range of practical activities and carry out small achievable tasks. At Forest School, children can develop their team working skills and also learn to become more independent. Those unfamiliar with woodland and green spaces can become confident in using them and this can form the basis of a life-long relationship with natural spaces.
