At Belmont, we provide pupils with a broad general knowledge of, and promote respect for, public institutions and service. We also teach pupils how they can influence decision-making through the democratic process and ensure they are listened to in school.

Pupils are very proud to become members of our Pupil Parliament. Elected by their peers, each class has a representative in the parliament that then chooses ministers and a secretary. The MPs are given the opportunity to discuss whole school issues and put forward their ideas to a nominated member of staff, and they provide feedback to their classes.

All pupils in Year 5 and Year 6 are given the opportunity to visit the Houses of Parliament in London. On our most recent trip, the children met with our local MP.
