  • A Fantastic Sports Day!

Mon 26 Jun 2023 Mrs Shales

The Red Team were the excited winners of our Sports Day on Friday! It was fantastic so many parents, carers and families came along to support one of our most favourite events of the school year.

The younger children took part in the morning session, and were wonderfully aided by the Young Sports Ambassadors and pupils in Sambar Class. The children in KS2 took over for the afternoon session and had a great time competing!

Huge thanks to Mr Togher who organised the day and to Mrs James and the FOBS, who not only provided refreshments but also ice pops for the children which were thoroughly enjoyed at the end of the races!

More photos from the day can be found on the Class pages and in the Photo Gallery.

  • He Did It! The Phenomenal Mr Togher!

Thu 22 Jun 2023 Mr Togher

The whole school was waiting excitedly on the field earlier today to greet Mr Togher as he completed the first part of his TRIALathlon! After a brief pause, he was on his way running across town to the Mere's Leisure Centre where he then swam for an hour!

We are all so incredibly proud of his achievement - a 38.6 km cycle, 5.22 km run and 1450 m swim - which will benefit not only the school but the Young Minds charity.

Pupils will be completing their final Togher Trial at tomorrow's Sports Day when they take part in the Water Butt Challenge. There is still time to sponsor the children, who have had a terrific week taking part in all of the activities. We welcome and appreciate any donation no matter how big or small.

If you would like to donate to Mr Togher's Trialathlon, please see the information below regarding his Just Giving page.

  • Getting Ready For Sports Day On Friday

Mon 19 Jun 2023 Mr Togher

We are looking forward to Sports Day on Friday, 23 June which will also be the conclusion of the Togher Trials with the Water Butt Race. The event will be split, as it was last year, with KS1 in the morning and KS2 in the afternoon. Full details have been sent home via ParentMail but a copy can be downloaded HERE.

    Please note that:

    • Spectators are to enter through the field gate. It will be opened 10 minutes prior to the start of the races.
    • Spectators can line the side of the track nearest the school, behind the line of cones. These cones are there for the children’s safety, so please do not cross them. Please bring a camping chair or blanket if you wish.
    • Classes will sit on the other side of the field, along the house side. Spectators must stay on their side of the track and must not cross the track.
    • At the end of the KS1 Sports Day, all spectators must leave the premises so the children can have their lunch break, they can then return to be let in for the KS2 Sports Day.
    • KS1 Sports Day will finish by lunchtime and KS2 Sports Day will finish before the end of the school day.
    • After Sports Day has finished and the trophy has been presented to the winning team, all children will return to class and will need collecting at the usual time from the usual place.

Taking Photos/Videos - Help Keep Our Community Safe

Whilst it's great to take photos and videos, please be mindful of uploading any to social media that contain images of children other than your own. For safeguarding reasons, some families do not wish and do not permit photos/videos of their children to be put online. Your co-operation is appreciated.

For Sports Day, your child should come into school in sports clothing with sturdy trainers, wearing the colour they have been given by their class teacher, please dress accordingly for the weather on that day. Please ensure your child has a hat, a water bottle and sun cream on the day.

FOBS will be selling refreshments throughout the day.

As always, I am looking forward to Sports Day this year and look forward to welcoming you all to spectate and support the children.

    Your sincerely
    Blaine Togher
    PE Lead

We ask that all sponsor forms are returned to school by tomorrow, Tuesday, 20 June either to the office or via their class teacher. The money raised from this part of the trials will be split 50/50 between our school funds and Young Minds charity.
