  • Planting Bluebells!

Fri 29 Sep 2023 Mr Togher

As you know, everyone at Belmont takes great pride in supporting the wider school community and this week we were delighted to be invited to support SKDC and the Friends of Queen Elizabeth Park in planting 1,000 English bluebells!

Children from Sambar Class worked in small groups in the park and were very efficient with the planting, covering the area quickly due to their great team work. Everyone really enjoyed working together and being able to do something good for our local area.

Our thanks go to Mrs Bowskill, the Friends of Queen Elizabeth Park and SKDC for arranging this event.

Thu 14 Sep 2023 Mr Togher

We are delighted to announce that Belmont has achieved the School Games Gold Mark Award for the 2022/23 academic year!

The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

Our sporting achievements during the year included:

    • 70% of KS2 attended a sports club.
    • 102 children across the whole school attended a sports club.
    • 62 children represented the school.
    • Hosting our very own Belmont girls and mixed football tournaments.
    • Successes at School Games events including 1st in individual boys cross country (3rd overall), 1st New Age Kurling, 5th Girls and mixed football, 1st Tri-Golf, 4th Rounders, 2nd Tag Rugby, 2nd Hockey and 3rd in Netball.

    • Young Ambassadors organised events, supported in PE lessons and lead assemblies.
    • Intra-school competitions.
    • International dance and circus days.
    • The Togher trials and Fitness Friday for our well-being weeks.

With a total of 62 young people competing in local inter-school competitions during the year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.

As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded.

We would like to give a special thanks to Inspire+ and our SGO Terry Plumb.

  • Picture News

    Tue 12 Sep 2023

At Belmont, we understand the importance of giving our children opportunity to learn about our world, develop independence, resilience, respect and unlock their own drive and passion for learning. Picture News is a fantastic weekly resource used in school which enables children to read about current events, participate in debates and share their views and opinions. Every week, we choose a current news story where we look at an image related to the story and consider thought-provoking questions in assembly and in the classroom to help us learn from the world around us.

Children are given a 'Take Home' page about the week's topic so that you can talk about the assembly at home. A copy can be found on the Picture News section of the website. To find out more about Picture News, go to their website by clicking HERE (https://www.picture-news.co.uk/).

  • Subscribe To The School Calendar

Mon 04 Sep 2023 Mrs Shales

With the new term soon to begin, I am pleased to let you know that you can subscribe to events from the school calendar so that they download into your own personal calendar on your mobile phone, tablet or computer. It's a great way to keep track of all the events happening in school.

All you need to do is visit the Calendar on our website and click the link called ‘Link the calendar events to your personal calendar’. You can then choose from three options: to add to your default calendar (for example, on an iPhone it will go to the iPhone calendar); to add it to your Google calendar; or input it to your calendar programme of choice.

Please note that although the calendar updates instantly, it may take up to 24 hours for new events to show in your personal calendar depending on which type of calendar you are using.

    Things to know:

    1. If the school edits the calendar, the updates will appear automatically in your calendar (the time that this takes to happen will depend on your calendar programme).
    2. You cannot edit the events in the school calendar.
    3. All events will pull through in one colour only, not the colours set by the school.
    4. You can name the calendar and choose how often to receive updates.
    5. You can unsubscribe via your own calendar at any time.

We hope you will find this feature useful. If you have any comments or concerns please contact the school office.

    Thank you.
