  • The Easter Experience At The Church Of Ascension

Wed 13 Mar 2024 Mrs Shales

The children in Impala and Barasingha classes loved their visits to the Church of Ascension this week where they took part in an Easter Experience workshop led by Reverend Sam. They learnt all about the Easter story by moving to five different stations and listening and answering questions. The children were also kindly given handmade knitted chicks with three mini chocolate eggs inside to bring home.

Our thanks to Reverend Sam and the church members for making us feel so welcome. More photos can be found on the Class Pages.

  • The Green Tree Schools Award

Tue 12 Mar 2024 Mrs Shales

As you know, everyone at Belmont is passionate about caring for our environment, not only within our school grounds but also our local community. Children are given the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors; whether that be Footprint Friday in Reindeer Class, lessons and storytelling in the Wildlife Area, the recently introduced KS2 Forest School or the gardening club whose members also tend the Millennium Garden on Harrowby Lane. This year, children have also experienced bluebell and snowdrop planting in Queen Elizabeth Park and hedgerow planting in Londonthorpe Woods.

In recognition of all the work we do, we are very proud to let you know that we have achieved a bronze Green Tree Schools Award! Organised by the Woodland Trust, schools are rewarded for doing environmental projects such as tree planting, reducing CO2 emissions and visiting woods. To find out more about the award, please click HERE

We would like to say a huge thank you to Mrs Pallier, the Woodland Trust and the Londonthorpe and Harrowby Without Parish Council for their tremendous support.

  • Scarlet Fever

Wed 06 Mar 2024 School Office

We have been notified that there is a case of scarlet fever within the school; a letter has been sent home to all parents/carers via ParentMail. As this is a contagious infection, it is felt that all parents/carers should be aware of the symptoms, which are:

    • A bright red rash which feels like sandpaper to touch, usually beginning on the neck or chest.
    • Blisters
    • Nausea/vomiting
    • A sore throat with swelling in the neck, finding it painful to swallow and sometimes a white tongue.
    • A very high temperature.

Please consult your doctor as soon as possible if you or your child have these symptoms as medication will be required.

Further information about scarlet fever can be found on the NHS website - please click HERE to go directly to the page. (https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/scarlet-fever/#:~:text=If%20you%20or%20your%20child%20has%20scarlet%20fever%2C%20stay)
